The weather in Brauneberg:

08/2011
High damages in the vineyards caused by heavy hail storm.
It's guessed, that the hail distroyed about 1.000 hectare of vineyards. In some vine yards it got 1/3 of the harvest distroyed in some about 90%.
Attahed you can see some images of the vine yards.

The days are getting warmer and warmer and Easter is just a few days away. After the cutting and binding works, back in february, we start to recycle the cut of material from the vines. This is used to give some natureal nutriment back to the grounds. This allowes the vines to grow up stronger and to develop the flower, which is needed to develop grapes.

At this time of the year we are busy cutting and binding the vines, a very important process to prepare them for the high standard of the quality of the wines which will be produced later in the year. This cutting and binding work is essential for the health and vigour of the vines.

With the warm, sunny weather over the last few weeks, the vines have been growing fast! So much so, it is important that they are cut back to shape in order to prevent them breaking under their own weight. This needs to be done without delay to minimise the risk of damage.

05/2010
The new wines have been bottled and next, work is going to start in the vineyards. Most of the vines are in bud now and the vineyards are turning green. Sadly, some plants didn't survive the winter and will need to be replanted.
